Each guest comes with a price tag and it’s not just the per plate cost.
Here’s the thing, if you are inviting 200 people to your wedding it will be expensive. Point. Blank. Period. There is no way around it unless you cut your list. Since that’s probably not an option for you, here are some wedding planning tips I can share with you to help you control your wedding budget.
Weekday Wedding
Weekday weddings are very common. I’ve planned more Thursday weddings than weekend weddings. Weekday weddings will save you money on your venue. The most expensive day to get married is Saturday night. Changing that to Wednesday or Thursday saves you a minimum of $20 less per wedding guest.
Tip: You will only save on your venue. Wedding vendors do not reduce their fees for weekday weddings but it’s a HUGE saving.
Weekend – Day Time Wedding
If you insist on having a weekend wedding, consider having an early wedding. The ceremony typically starts at 11:30 am and your wedding is completed by 6 pm, the latest. Just like a weekday wedding, you will save at least $20 per wedding guest.
Tip: Keep in mind you will have an early start to your day. Like really early call time for hair and makeup.
Prioritize Your Wants
You will have to make tough choices. The best way to help make these wedding planning decisions slightly easier is to prioritize your list of wants. When I first met with new couples, I asked them to list the top 3 elements that are important to them. These 3 elements are where we don’t skim on the budget but we find a way to save on the elements that are not as important.
Tip: You have to stay strong on your priority list. It will be hard to say no to things when everything is so pretty. Just remember there are ways to make your vision happen within your allocated budget.
These three simple wedding planning tips will help you keep your sanity while you plan the biggest party of your life. Don’t stress it, plan it. If your wedding guest list is 200 or more. You’ve set your first priority, having a BIG FAT FABULOUS WEDDING. That’s what is important to you so don’t beat yourself up about it.
Follow those three tips to help you manage your wedding budget but be honest about your budget. If you are planning a wedding for 200 guests, your wedding budget will be a minimum of 60k. (this is for New York, New Jersey, and Long Island). If you live in a different state, you definitely should do your research on how much your wedding will cost you. The best way to get this information is to speak with a professional wedding planner.
