For engaged couples, I know the biggest question on your mind is, will I get to have my wedding in 2021? Will I be able to have the wedding I’ve planned for all this time? Will I get to invite all of my friends and family? The answer to these questions is, we don’t know but we sure hope so. I know, not the answer you expected but if 2020 taught me anything, it is you never know what the hell is going to happen.

The truth is, weddings and celebrations in New York, Long Island, and New Jersey have been affected the hardest but that didn’t stop couples from celebrating their love. I know what you’re thinking….. Deniesha, I don’t want to hear that ish!! I want to have my wedding the way I planned. I know you do but the truth is WE DON’T KNOW.

What I do know is, you can still get married and it may look different but it can still happen. Not what any of us want. Trust me, I don’t want that for any of my couples but I have to be open and honest with you. That’s my responsibility as a wedding planner. I’m not going to sugarcoat or beat around the bush. It’s my responsibility to get couples through these uncertain times with guidance, information, and actionable steps. So here is what you’re going to do.
- BE PREPARED
If you can’t have your original plan, what does your Plan B look like? Have the conversation and decide if you can’t have your original plan. Are you keeping your wedding date? Will you vow now and party later. Are you postponing all together? What does Plan B look like to you?
- SET A DEADLINE
You have to set a date on when you will make the decision. Most venues will not make any final calls until 60 days before your wedding but don’t wait until the 60 days to start having the conversation with your venue. Find out your options.
- BE OPEN TO CHANGE
I know easier said than done but you have to know that there is a possibility your plans will change. Like I said, one lesson I learned is you never know what the hell is going to happen. Keep an open mind. If you follow steps one and two, this will be easier than it looks.
THERE IS SO MUCH UNCERTAINTY BUT ONE THING THAT IS CERTAIN IS L O V E. YOUR LOVE PREVAILED THROUGH 2020 AND IT WILL SHINE EVEN BRIGHTER IN 2021. WHETHER YOU DECIDE TO HAVE AN INTIMATE WEDDING, ELOPE OR POSTPONE ALTOGETHER, YOUR L O V E IS ALL THAT MATTERS. 2020 WAS A HELL OF A YEAR, TO SAY THE LEAST, BUT SO MANY GOOD THINGS HAPPENED. WE HAVE SO MUCH TO BE GRATEFUL FOR AND WE WILL HAVE SO MUCH TO CELEBRATE. IT WAS NOT CALLED THE ROARING 20’S FOR NOTHING.
