Cipriani, Broadway is an iconic New York City landmark. Located in the heart of downtown Manhattan, right in front of the Charging Bull statue. It’s the perfect place to host a classic New York City wedding. With the architecture, the lighting, and the cuisine of Cipriani; it was the perfect venue for Andrea & Patrick’s multicultural wedding.
How It Started
Andrea and Patrick contacted me to help them plan their classic New York City summer wedding. Andrea was looking for guidance and support as well as wedding design assistance. Their main concern was blending both of their cultures in a way where everyone felt represented and welcomed. Andrea is Jewish and Patrick is Hatiain. They both loved their cultures but were very excited to start their new traditions.
We hit it off right away. Andrea and Patrick are Brooklyn residents, just like me. We bonded over our favorite restaurants and our love for Prospect Park. Although our connection was great, Andrea wanted me to meet her parents before she made her final decision. Luckily, her mom and dad loved me too. They were so much fun to get to know. Now that her Mom and Dad approved, we got the ball rolling with wedding planning.
We booked all of their key vendors within the first month and started designing Andrea’s vision for a summer garden-style wedding made up of shades of purple and blue. In the middle of planning, we discovered Andrea was expecting. Their August wedding turned into a June wedding and now we had 4 months to plan instead of 6. The challenge was accepted and crushed!

The Ceremony

Combining Andrea and Patrick’s cultures was at the heart of their wedding plans. The ceremony was performed by a Rabbi and Pastor. They exchanged vows under a huppah, jumped the broom, and broke the glass as 250 of their guests shouted Mozal tov. It was a classic New York City moment. I chose a 20 ft gold huppah and added sprays of purple and blue ceremony flowers. The huppah is an intricate part of the Jewish wedding ceremony. We wanted to honor the tradition as well as make it modern and fabulous.

Reception
After the ceremony, all the guests gathered for cocktails in the foyer while we transformed the reception space into the summer garden Andrea dreamed of. Moving 30 tables in place, was no easy task but the Cipriani team assured me they did it all the time all will go well. And they were right.
During the design phase of the wedding, Andrea’s mom was concerned about the wedding guests that sat furthest from the bride and groom. My goal was to ensure every guest felt special no matter where they were seated so we created 5 different centerpiece designs for the guest tables.

The classic large centerpieces stood on gold urns and of course additional candles.

The Estate table design was all about the details. We upgraded the tables to gold mirrored tables and upgraded the chairs to blue and gold dining chairs. The floral design was an elevated runner filled with shades of blue and purple flowers. We added more details with navy blue candles, navy blue dinner menus, and gold chargers.

The specialty serpentine table was the center of attention. We created a large ring centerpiece that was displayed in the center of the circle table setup. We added more flowers to the inner circle.

The low and lush centerpiece with candles was romantic and a perfect complement to the grand centerpieces. The floral Trio was also a nice compliment and a different take on a low centerpiece.

Personal Touches
Andrea and Patrick’s monogram was designed after Andrea’s love of tanzanite stone which was also the stone for her engagement ring. LePenn Design created a monogram that incorporated the tanzanite stone and its initials. It was projected on the wall of Cipriani to appear as if it was engraved.

My Favorite Details
Designing this wedding was indeed my favorite part of the wedding. Andrea’s love of purple and blue was a breath of fresh air. I loved every moment of curating all the details and finding the perfect shades of blue and purple.

Cipriani has the most amazing lighting team that creates a spectacular lighting show to highlight the beauty of the architecture. It left me speechless the first time I saw the presentation.

Thank you to the entire vendor team that made Andrea & Patrick’s classic New York wedding a dream come true for them and for me.
