I recently posted a reel about not using venue linens and it got a lot of attention, 100K views and counting. Many of my fellow wedding planners commented and shared this reel because they feel the same sentiments as me. We don’t like venue linens. This is not planners just telling couples to spend more money, we have legit reasons why you should rent linens for your wedding (or special event) instead of using your wedding venue’s house linens.
Three Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Use Your Venue’s Linens
- Quality – The quality of venue linens is the bare minimum. The cotton/polyester blend is less than appealing. You may think why would I care about this? You care because the quality of your linens will show in your pictures. You should also care because your guests will see and feel those bare minimum linens. These are details that elevate your guest experience.
- Limited Options – the color options are basic. The color of your linens plays a large role in your wedding design. Not having the right color for your wedding design can throw the complete wedding design off. If you need blush linens for a wedding, I’m not just looking for any blush, I need a certain shade of blush that most venues do not have. They are basic pink. I’m looking for a mauve or dusty rose or a very particular pale pink.
- They Suck – To be frank, some venue’s linens absolutely suck. I’ve been to venues and seen linens that don’t touch the floor, they have stains, and some are just dingy. You don’t want that for your wedding. You want clean linens that fit your tables properly and have no residue from a previous wedding.
Now have I been to venues where the linens worked, Absolutely!! But in all my years of being a wedding planner, this happened three times and I’ve been to some pretty nice venues. The reason we didn’t use the venue’s linens usually was because of the quality or the color option.
So, before you think this is just another expense or I’m just another wedding planner convincing people to spend more money on their wedding, please take the reasons I said above into consideration before you make your decision.
